The Americans and their NATO allies have pledged to leave Afghanistan by 31 August. The Taliban offensive is advancing steadily towards the city. While French, Italian, German and American diplomatic and military personnel were preparing to leave, the Nazany family was in denial about the situation. But within hours, Kabul fell to the Taliban. It was 15 August. While the panicked population rushed to the French embassy – the only one still open – or to the international airport, the Western services tried to impose order on the gigantic chaos, to save what could be saved. Scattered across the city, in the grip of panic and chaos, the Nazany will have to fight to flee, to find themselves… and to survive.

Christian's father, Ottes, can sometimes surprise with spells of sweetness, care, and romantic gestures that embody a boy's dreams. Soccer games, amusement parks, toys, and ice cream punctuate these brief intervals. However, they are overshadowed by episodes of rage, violence, and bitterness that weigh heavily on his father and the family. Despite the challenges, Ottes, proud of his working-class roots, vehemently opposes Christian's pursuit of higher education. He expects Christian to follow in his footsteps, embodying the archetype of a strong, German beer-drinking worker. When Christian's mother dies, his aunt courageously and successfully fights for Christian's opportunity to attend upper classes. With intense performances and based on the acclaimed book 'Ein Mann seiner Klasse' by Christian Baron, this emotional and realistic drama delves deep into the complexities of familial bonds against the backdrop of social inequality.

Whiskey on the Rocks is an alternative take on what happened during the dramatic days at the turn of the month between October and November 1981, when the Soviet submarine U-137 ran aground in the Karlskrona archipelago. When the Soviet lieutenant on board the Soviet submarine receives the news that he is the father of a newborn healthy daughter, there is no limit to the festivities that follow on board. Unfortunately, something else happens that must not occur – the submarine runs aground in neutral Sweden, only a stone's throw from the nation's top secret naval base. Never before has the world been closer to full-scale global conflict and all responsibility now rests on the shoulders of one man, Sweden's Prime Minister Thorbjörn Fälldin.
