2025 YLab Award

12 maggio 2025 ore 16:00
Since 2017, Prix Italia has collaborated with local universities to create the YLab, a creative and educational laboratory that over the years has seen the participation of hundreds of young people from Italian and foreign universities in the cities hosting the Prix Italia, involving students in the exchange of experiences with experts and international guests. This year, the regular Competition prizes will be joined, as every year, by some special prizes, including the 2025 YLab Award, assigned by university students from the Campania Region.

2025 YLAB AWARD

1. Introduction
The Prix Italia is an international award that promotes and rewards the best quality, innovation and creativity in the production of Radio & Podcast, TV and Digital programmes. It is also a major Rai Event that benefits from the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic.
For the 77th edition of the Prix Italia, scheduled to take place in Naples from 20 to 24 October 2025, the 2025 YLab Award is established.

2. Jury
The jury will be composed of students from the Universities of the Campania Region. The juror students will be selected by the participating Universities according to criteria established in the framework of an agreement between the Prix Italia and the Universities themselves. The participating students will select the best production from all the nominated programmes of the Competition according to their own judgment.
The names of the jurors must be communicated to the Prix organisation by 20 June 2025.

3. Works’ eligibility
The Prix Italia Competition is open to radio, television and digital first works entered by broadcasters from all over the world, both public service and private. The admission criteria for the works are detailed in the Prix Italia Annual Regulations, to which reference is made. The works are presented in their original version and accessibility to the English version is also guaranteed.
The 2025 YLab Award Jury will be called upon to view and evaluate a selection of the works entered, resulting from the pre-evaluation carried out by the international juries of the Prix Italia.

4. Works of the Jury
At the end of the pre-evaluation phase of the international juries of the Prix Italia (scheduled for 15 September 2025), the students’ jury will officially take office and begin its activities during an online training meeting, organised by the Prix Italia organisation, during which the Competition, the details of the edition and the evaluation guidelines will be outlined.
The members of the jury will have access to the Prix Italia online archive (archive.prixitalia.rai.it), to view, individually or in working groups, the works submitted to them.
After a preliminary viewing of the works, the jury will meet again by 10 October 2025, to elect its President and coordinators, and organise the continuation of the work.
By 20 October 2025, starting date of the Prix Italia, the members of the jury must have completed the viewing of the works.
During the Prix Italia 2025 (from 20 to 24 October), the members of the jury will have the opportunity to follow the face-to-face meetings (in English) organised between the authors/directors of the nominated productions and the jurors of the relevant categories of the International Competition, and to participate in the debate.
At the end of the works, the jury will meet (in person) for the final discussion and the announcement of the winner. The President will be responsible for drawing up the jury report with the reasons for awarding the prize.
The 2025 YLab Award will be given to the representative of the winning programme during the Prix Italia Awards Ceremony.

5. Training Laboratory
All the participants in the 2025 YLab project will receive a free pass that allows access to all the Competition events and those reserved to international juries.

• Participation in the YLab jury activities may entitle the student to the recognition of training credits, in the amount defined by the didactic regulations of the individual degree courses.
• Before participating in the activities, the student must send his/her photo and indicate his/her course of study, which will be published on the www.prixitalia.rai.it  website.
• One or more coordinators will be elected from among the students within the YLab jury to make communications easier with the Prix Italia staff.
