RAI PRIX ITALIA: THE "SUSTAINABLE" FESTIVAL RETURNS TO BARI (APULIA) FROM 2nd TO 6th OCTOBER 2023 – NEW CREATIVE FORCES AND EVER WIDER AUDIENCE

THE PRESIDENT OF RAI MARINELLA SOLDI: “WE AIM TO COMBINE QUALITY AND MAINSTREAM PRODUCTIONS”
“The 75th Prix Italia’s aim is to be ready for the future, for the next 75 years: more confident, more connected, and therefore in line with contemporary needs and the strategic goals of broadcasters. In 2023 the Prix Italia will become a Festival of audiovisual and digital excellence open to the public, to young people and innovation".

The President of Rai Marinella Soldi explained, while announcing the dates of the next edition of the Rai-branded event that will be held in Bari this year again, from 2nd to 6th October 2023. The productions presented in the Competition will be displayed in a film festival fashion until the Award Ceremony day, together with a series of events, international meetings and screening previews.

The President of this edition is Walter Iuzzolino, television manager "against the tide", TV and Web series expert hunting international excellence, curator of the online streaming service 'Walter Presents' and CEO of London based production company Eagle Eye Drama, chosen by the Prix Italia Community during their annual online meeting hosted in the Rai’s headquarters in Viale Mazzini (Rome), attended by 45 broadcasters representing 36 countries. "A choice – as Soldi points out - that represents the increasingly felt need to combine quality and mainstream productions".

“The Prix Italia has the ambition to become a magnet for new creative forces and attract an ever wider audience” - says Iuzzolino, “what pushes radio and television productions cannot be an algorithm only, but a strong emotional drive".

“After last year's terrific success” as the President of the Puglia Region Michele Emiliano says, “RAI chooses Puglia for the 75th edition of the Prix Italia. We feel happy about it, because it’s the recognition for our region to be a welcoming and ideal location for international events like this. We look forward to living again the unique atmosphere of the Prix and to welcoming international guests and media professionals who will join us in Bari from all over the world".

After 2022 "Sustainable Me" claim, "Engage Me" is the title chosen for this year's edition. "The choice of the themes and the way we organise the Festival - explains Chiara Longo Bifano, the Prix Italia Secretary General - increasingly define the Prix Italia as a sustainable event. It’s a difficult path that cannot be postponed, to which we are committed together with Rai Sustainability, local institutions and the Universities of Puglia”.

Mr. Walter Iuzzolino, New Prix Italia President
