We were extremely fortunate to be able to complete a successful Prix Italia 2020 in Rome this year against an extremely difficult background caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Although vaccines are now on the horizon we know that 2021 is also likely to be a difficult year. Therefore after consulting the President of RAI, we decided to embark on a number of important changes in 2021, designed to ensure that once again we have a safe and successful festival.
The most important of these is to announce that the 73rd Edition will take place from the 14th to 18th of June next year. This will be at a point in the year when infections are likely to be low and summer temperatures will allow us to plan many of our events in open air environments. The venue has yet to be confirmed, but we hope to do so shortly.
On January 4th 2021 you will receive the official call for entries with all the necessary information in order to participate with your best productions and representatives.
The deadline for registration of entry forms and summaries, uploading of promotional and technical material, registration of jury members and confirmation of payment of membership fees is the 31st March 2021.
The pre-selection of the Radio, TV and Web programmes submitted in the official categories of the competition will take place from Monday 26th April to Thursday 27th May after which the Prix Italia Secretariat will single out the shortlisted entries which will be officially announced on our website www.prixitalia.rai.it
Jury members will meet online on 7/8/9th June to assess the best programmes/projects in each of the 9 categories (3 Radio, 3 TV and 3 Web).
In line with tradition, besides the official categories there will be a Special Prize in Honour of the President of the Italian Republic. Also this jury will meet online between Tuesday 1st and Monday 14th June. We very much hope that jurors and delegates will then join us in Italy for the Prize-giving Ceremony on 18th June.
A copy of the 2021 Prix Italia regulations together with the membership fee details will follow.
As you know, we have all experienced an extremely difficult period. The pandemic has put us all to test but it has also underlined the importance of being part of a community like ours. It is a bond we have renewed each summer for more than 70 years.
We look forward to receiving your best productions in 2021. In the meantime, we wish you all safe and restful Seasons Greetings in the hope that 2021 will be a year of rebirth and reconstruction for all.
